Gubbio is a city in the province of Perugia. It is rich in Romanesque churches and monuments including a perfectly conserved amphitheatre. It is also known for the Don Matteo TV series location.
EVENTS: The Festa dei Ceri, which takes place on May 15 every year to celebrate the patron Saint Ubaldo. Three heavy wooden machines are carried on the shoulders in a sort of relay race that has no winners. The placement order of the three candles- ceri (Saint Ubaldo patron of Gubbio, Saint Giorgio and Saint Antonio) is always the same.
